LSA Welcomes former Restaurateur turned Attorney to its Tuscaloosa Office
LSA recently welcomed Staff Attorney Gabriel De Moske to its Tuscaloosa Office on Oct. 23.
A former Fine Dining restaurateur of more than 20 years, the Pennsylvania native volunteered and interned for both LSA’s Huntsville and Tuscaloosa regional offices (2016-2018) while in Law School. Earning a J.D. and certificate of Public Interest Law from The University of Alabama School of Law (2018), for De Moske, public interest law was something of interest from the start.
“I always wanted to get an advanced degree,” De Moske said. “I decided to take a couple of paralegal classes to see if the law was something I’d be interested in, which ultimately led to me going to UA for Law School. The Law is one of those areas where your work can have a positive impact on a person’s life, as lawyers are often uniquely situated to help people during a major life event. I enjoy helping people one-on-one.”
Specializing in the practice areas of housing, consumer protection and third-party debt collection, De Moske also has a background in business and finance. While in Law School, he received various awards including: Pro Bono Excellence Award, Order of the Samaritan, and Outstanding Clinic Student Award.
De Moske believes his experience in working in the food industry and being well traveled, is beneficial in terms of helping him to evaluate and address the needs of clients.
“Because I’ve worked with people with various backgrounds and had customers with various backgrounds, I can easily work with different types of people regardless of their backgrounds,” De Moske said. “Based on my experiences, I feel I can interact with our clients and serve their interests well.”
De Moske also graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies from St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, Fla. With a new career in law, De Moske stated he looks forward to becoming a “good lawyer.”
“This being a second career, I plan on remaining at Legal Services Alabama, until I retire, again,” he said.
De Moske has been married to his wife Nancy for 15 years. He enjoys sailing, diving, snorkeling and spending time with his family and dog Butterscotch.
