It’s National Volunteer Week. Thank You Volunteers.

April 10-16 is National Volunteer Week and we’d like to take a moment to recognize all of the amazing volunteers that help our organization throughout the year. Our organization relies on the generosity of our volunteers through their time and talents. We hope you know we appreciate you every day.

We know your time is precious, but doing something good for others makes you feel good. Because you can personally benefit from volunteering, we encourage you to get out and volunteer and encourage friends to do the same. Here are some other ways to get involved in the community.

The known
If you’re new to volunteering, you can rely on the well-known organizations in the community. So think of the organizations that get talked about and seek out those groups. Local hospitals, soup kitchens, animal shelters and blood banks are good places to start.

April showers bring yard work
You’re noticing the signs of spring. The local parks department personnel are busy in our parks and gardens getting them ready for the season. There’s more than enough for staff to do, so if you like to get outdoors and get your hands a little dirty, give them a call. If you have an elderly neighbor, take the rake over and get their yard spruced up.

Going beyond the borders
If you want to be more adventurous in your volunteering, consider a volunteer vacation abroad this summer. Volunteering in other countries offers a unique opportunity to travel the world while giving back to others. There are several reputable organizations online that can help you plan your trip.
